Dean Rules at Bryant Pk. Rock 'N' Rally...New York Post
August 27, 2003 -- Democratic 2004 presidential front-runner Howard Dean wrapped up a cross-country fund-raising and campaigning tour last night with a raucous rally at Bryant Park that looked more like a Phish concert than a political gathering.

About 16,000 Dean supporters - many of them younger voters - packed the park to listen to alternative rock and hip-hop music and hear the former Vermont governor blast President Bush on foreign policy, tax cuts and social issues.

2. Isn't that Clinton-like?
I believe "rock the vote" with Clinton started that way, on MTV, etc. He seemed to rally the younger voters, as well. And I truly believe that reaching the younger, perhaps first-time voters, is going to be key to the next election.

6. Dean's people should have an exact number since they registered
people coming in (entering them on computers). Last report here was 10,000 - but I can't believe that NY Post over-reported so, check with the site.

5. This is what I like about him
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 08:43 AM by jamesinca
He says things like we are not going to beat Bush by being Bush-lite. We need to be Deamocrats again. Because we do not wrap ourselves to tightly in the American flag and hide behind Jesus, we as a party are stigmatized in parts of the U.S. as not being American enough to live here. He is taking on that image and I hope he beats it.

8. If Dean can get the under-30s to vote en masse...
...the RNCC is going to be hurting.

Young people are idealistic, energetic, and liberal, everything the GOP is not. The only thing that saved the repukes so far is that 18-24 yo's don't vote in the quantities of greedy middle-aged white men.

Dean could be the second coming of Clinton, and that's gotta have some knees knocking at GOP central.
