Bush Less Sure-Footed in Postwar Iraq as Casualties Mount An AP News Analysis

WASHINGTON (AP) - Sure-footed in winning the war in Iraq, President Bush seems less certain about what to do now.

With casualties climbing and criticism growing, Bush is under intense pressure to do something differently - something to stop the deaths of U.S. soldiers, quell acts of terrorism and turn on the electricity and water for frustrated Iraqis.

At home, Democrats and Republicans alike are demanding answers, and the approach of the presidential campaign is ratcheting up the pressure. Struggling for solutions, the administration is divided on some of the central points. In the meantime, U.S. soldiers are dying at the rate of more than one a day.

The big questions are: what will it cost, how many troops will it take, who's going to help and how long will the United States occupy Iraq? The administration passed a sobering mark Tuesday as the number of Americans killed in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein surpassed the number who died during the heavy fighting.

1. All those big questions...
... should have been asked and demanded to be answered before the war started.

Well, at least Robert Byrd was making that point, although he was very lonely in the Senate chamber at the time.

2. SUREFOOTED ?? NEEDS A TRACTOR TO PULL HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS ASS
Get some arab speaking policemen in there to control looting and the criminals. Get some arab speaking power engineers in to restore power.

We can't do that though.

I FORGOT --- we are there to steal the oil. !!!!

3. Surefooted? Does that mean blustery demagoguery?
I think it does. I always thought that term was funny. I was once called "surefooted." I didn't know what to make of that...

What is surefooted about sending the neighbors' kids to beat up the town bully?

... more often before shoving his foot in his mouth.

It's all in how the strings are pulled.

10. ARE YOU SUGGESTING THE PUPPETEER BE MORE CAREFUL ???

5. 'Bush Less Sane in Postwar Iraq Compared to Insanity in Prewar Iraq'
Bush is going to have a psychotic breakdown while in office. I know this is going to happen. Bush isn't going to be the Repuke nominee as everyone in the Whore Media even this forum seems to believe. (Which I think is a bad thing for the Dems. Bush is so stupid he'll easily be beaten. I think any other Repuke would be a much tougher Dem. opponent.) You're going to see Chimpy start slipping out of sight. They'll probably come up with a medical excuse, like cancer, for his withdrawl.

And when this happens I request my DU star is changed from yellow to green to acknowledge I had predicted this! (A trust fund with an opening balance of $1 Million would be a nice second gesture.)

7. Some good dArK thinking. I would help, but I already gave to Dean twice.
I guess we don't want Bush to fizzle out too fast. Either the economy or Iraq can make this happen. A 12-15 month fizzle should do it.

6. He Will Continue
Remember, he dosen't have a brain in his body and is being controlled by those who have the most to lose if the war dosen't run on another few years.

He dosen't have the ability/temperment/balls to admit "he" made a mistake and won't because it'll cut his standing with the American Voters during the campaign and election.

That's a point that the Dem canaditates need to focus and hammer on. Screw up, work things out and go on with the business of running the country---and not as a hobby!

9. I concur
As much as I would like bush to regret his actions, I think you have to have the facility for insightful thought before that can happen. I doubt if bush is much bothered by this at all. I think the previous posts of the psychotic nature of his personality are right on. If you can't empathize with someone, you don't get too upset about anything that happens to them. Now, he may start getting a bit upset if he can't control what the media is saying about him. When its about him, he can relate and retaliate.
