A group of Fort Lewis soldiers were injured when their truck hit a mine outside Tikrit, about 120 miles north of Baghdad.

The six soldiers were taken to a military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, Army spokesman Lt. Col. Stephen Barger told The Tacoma News Tribune. Identities and conditions were not released Tuesday.

KING
The soldiers injured are with the 555th Combat Engineering Group, part of the 14th Battalion that's been in Iraq since April.
All are members of the 555th Combat Engineer Group, 14th Engineer Battalion, which specializes in setting and clearing mine fields, breaching obstacles and demolitions.

The six were injured Friday while traveling north of Tikrit, said Barger.

maybe we will start getting more reports regarding the injuries that are sustained in Iraq, along with a more accurate death count, now that the veil of silence seems to have been lifted.

1. I do not recall ANY reports of troop death occurring AFTER they were taken
out of Iraq to Landstuhl, Walter Reed or any other facility. I can't imagine that none of them have failed to survive. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, but I sure try to.
