Bush Pushes Retroactive Enron Escape Legislation
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=SVBIZINK4.story&STORY=/www/story/08-26-2003/0002006762&EDATE=TUE+Aug+26+2003,+12:19+PM

"Retroactive legislation moving rapidly through Congress would make it easier for corporate wrongdoers to escape responsibility for defrauding investors, harming the environment and otherwise maximizing profits at the expense of the health and financial well-being of ordinary citizens," says Nan Aron, president of Alliance For
Justice, a nonprofit corporation based in Washington, DC. "In the wake of the worst corporate scandals in fifty years, rather than acting to deter wrongdoing, Congress is poised to encourage more white collar misconduct with passage of a so-called class action reform bill which actually retroactively helps several of our most notorious corporate miscreants escape accountability."

4. I'll bet you a shiney nickel that Holy Joe supports/votes for this one
He was one of the original authors of the CPA get out of jail free card legislation that got this whole corporate crime spree under way (same one Clinton vetoed and they overrode his veto).

Congressional Whores.

7. Helen Thomas? Have any reporters queried admin officials on this?
We guys in the white hats only need to get something in writing, maybe something on video, that will lasso this administration to a scandalous bunch that has ruined thousands of lives.

Does anyone know either the title or the House number of this bill?

8. Agreed. They need to be hoisted on their own petard..
OH THESE F--ing ORWWLLIAN NAMES. A calculated deceptive TRAVESTY of the language.

"The Class Action Fairness Act" (HR 1115), passed the House by a vote of 253
to 170 on July 12 and Junior is pushing its Senate counterpart S. 274.

S274 should be filibustered, pronto with a clear explanation that it is being done to protect the
the employees of these companies who are wiped out by this corporate thievery.
