Ohio Senator Sentenced
Ohio Senator Sentenced

LAST UPDATE: 8/28/2003 2:34:12 PM

Ohio Senator Louis Blessing was ordered to pay a $200 fine Thursday morning,, after pleading no contest to a reckless operation charge.

He faced a driving under the influence charge, but that was changed Thursday morning.

The 54-year-old Blessing, who represents Hamilton County's 8th District, was arrested last December after a truck driver reported his car was weaving on I-71 near Wilmington.

The State Highway patrol says he blew a zero point one-one on a breathalyzer. (snip/...)

Blessing wants job in Bush energy agency

By Howard Wilkinson
The Cincinnati Enquirer
State Sen. Louis Blessing, a Colerain Township Republican facing the end of his 17-year career in the Ohio General Assembly, is seeking a post in the Bush administration's Energy Department.

Mr. Blessing said Wednesday he has applied for the job of chief legal counsel to Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham, a former U.S. senator from Michigan.

“I don't know that I'll get it; there's probably a bunch of people who have applied,” said Mr. Blessing. (snip/...)

1. If this Senator doesn't have enough influence to get out of a DUI
charge, he isn't likely to be picked by Cheney for the Energy Commission.

4. And *again* the news* story does not use the word "Republican"
coyly dancing around the issue by saying things like "represents Hamilton County's 8th district".

Then again, the source is a TV station, and they're not allowed to use bad words on the air :-)

Hope he doesn't plan to DRIVE to Washington!
