1. Gee, a couple neocons...
...had just commented on how they'd like to see a civil war. Oh boy, looks like their wish is coming true. Yeah, masterful planning Bush...

8. It will get ugliest
when the whole region descends into a full scale ethnic cival war, the US decides it has finally had enough and leaves, then the region erupts into anarchy and chaos, possibly bringing the intrusion of Turkey, Iran or Syria to stabalize the violence and seize the spoils. Eventually another strong man will emerge to violently supress the chaos and resotre order and we will have another dictatorship, possibly far worse then Hussein.

4. this is al Hakim's mosque
At this point it looks as though al Sadr's people are getting serious. Hakim survived this attempt--again. His brother is a member of the CPA, isn't that right?

12. 100 injured, 20 dead, Hakim in his car when car bomb went off
Seems having the US choose you and your family for the Governing Council is not a good thing.- at least not for a long life.

13. Looks as if we already are.
And you know what sucks? This was a TOTALLY FORSEEABLE RESULT.

Civil war very often happens after you remove a totalitarian government. All the seconds-in-command who have been toadying to the current regime while building up their own armies in preparation for a future coup rush into the vaccuum, which they eventually blow to bits in their efforts to outgun each other. For crying out loud...where were these people for the breakup of Yugoslavia?

Oh, why even ask any more.

Sigh,

The Plaid Adder

14. Just checked Salam Pax's blog to see if he had anything
on this since he was a good resource on the UN bombing. Instead of this bombing, Salam reported on something else:

Our house was searched by the Americans. That happened almost ten days ago. I wasn’t home, but my mother called the next day a bit freaked out.
They came at around 12 midnight they were apparently supposed to do a silent entrance and surprise the criminal Ba’athi cell that was in my parents house

If we lose the heart and mind of Salam, there is no hope for us in Iraq at all. I am so angry this is all being done in the name of my country.
