was the headline of a very funny article (URL below) appearing in the Daily Mirror today. Skinner known by the Tories as the "Beast of Bolsover", has a unique style for someone in a profession, in which some measure of duplicitous sweet-talking would be considered a minimal requirement.
I only saw Skinner once on TV, when he was being interviewed many years ago, and was astonished by the way he snarled at the interviewing journalist in a fiercely hostile manner. I don't think the journalist's tone was overtly hostile; he was probably just peddling the usual dishonest, covertly hostile line of the Establishment, i.e. talking as if it was self-evident that it was incumbent on the workers in an industrial dispute to cave in, because of all the trouble and disruption caused by their action or inaction. There was no question, of course, of the intransigence of the bosses being the stumbling block to peace and harmony. Anyway, I've never seen him interviewed on the box since! They daren't have him on a genteel program such as "Question Time", because he would be an overnight sensation. Here's the URL:
