Good one from Asheville N.C. Citizen Times today:
"Outrage. In the end, that’s really the only reaction applicable to President Bush’s acknowledgement Saturday that he has for years OK’d secret spying on U.S. citizens inside these borders.
In a brief address Saturday, the president said key congressional leaders had been informed of the practice, which he has reauthorized three dozen times, and he furthermore made it plain he doesn’t intend to put an end to it. He lashed out at the disclosure of the story in the New York Times, which apparently sat on the story for around a year before going to press with it late last week.
None of the three institutions - the presidency, Congress and the press - mentioned in the previous paragraph are going to come out of this looking good.
But there’s every chance the president is going to come out the worst of the lot."
