US stops publication of Arab youth mag
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 01:10 AM by kskiska
WASHINGTON -- The US State Department on December 22 said it was suspending the publication of the multimillion dollar Hi magazine that targeted Arab youth.

"The State Department is conducting a review of its Arabic language magazine, Hi, to assess whether the magazine is meeting its objectives effectively," it said in a statement. "During the period of this review, the print version of Hi magazine will be suspended."

The magazine was launched in July 2003 in a bid to win the hearts and minds of Arab youth. Some 55,000 copies were distributed monthly in 18 countries at a cost of $4.5 million a year.

The department said the review will develop quantitative data on how broadly the magazine was reaching its audience.

2. No, it's just a failure of a program...
...aimed at "youth outreach" in Islamic nations to Muslim youth. Few want to read what is known to be US propaganda.

3. It just goes to show you -
the level of deluded policies in Washington. They actually believe that as long as they create an image that everything's OK, it's actually going to be OK.

Never mind what the facts are. The fact is that the Middle East is young. I think the median age in Iran is 25 years. It's about the same in many other countries.

The US has figured out that it wants to target these large numbers of young people, before it's too late.

The problem is, the US is not a friend: it's the enemy.
