Strength for your journey rfu
I attend the Episcopal church that’s been in the news regarding the IRS this year and see some parallels with that community and ours here at DU. The priests refer to the altar table as the center of our church lives, saying everyone is welcome wherever we are on our journeys of faith. That community of people of faith gives us strength for our journeys. All Saints' vision statement includes these words:
"In grateful response to the love of God made tangible in Jesus Christ, the faith community of All Saints Church is called:
To embody God's unlimited and inclusive love that embraces, liberates and empowers people, whoever they are and wherever they find themselves on the journey of faith.
To live out Christ's vision of unlimited love that empowers new life, not only for children, youth and adults within our membership, but with other neighbors, especially those who suffer from violence, injustice and bigotry."
Democratic Underground as a community of people, for the most part, who believe in a better future, one free of violence, injustice and bigotry. We have faith in the truth, the rule of law, treating others as we want to be treated, in leaving this world better than we found it, speaking out for those who can’t or won’t, and helping those who don’t have the same advantages many of us have. We support living and working together for justice and better lives for all. We feel free to express our feelings, opinions, support for others, giving us all strength to carry on: strength for our journeys ahead. In all the distractions and the attempts to still the messengers, we will prevail, as truth, faith and hope do in all times.
God bless us everyone and a prayer for a much happier New Year, nation and world in 2006.
