Great Op-ed outlining the frightening silencing of Govt employees

U.S. mustn't forget about openness and honesty

Louis Fisher is one of the nation's foremost experts on American government and separation of powers. For 35 years, he has provided nonpartisan research for members of Congress and their staffs as a scholar at the Congressional Research Service, a part of the Library of Congress.

And he's in trouble.

Fisher has built a sterling reputation as a fair and unflinching analyst, drawing praise from colleagues, other scholars, think tanks and public-interest groups — and even grudging respect from partisans on both sides of the aisle in Congress who have not always been happy with where the facts have led him.

A few measures of the 71-year-old senior specialist's credibility: He has testified before Congress 38 times and has published 16 books and hundreds of scholarly articles in addition to all of his CRS reports. His work is cited in congressional testimony and Supreme Court briefs.

Despite all that, he has been called on the carpet for not being sufficiently "neutral" in his outside work. That work included an article published in Political Science Quarterly titled, "Deciding on War Against Iraq: Institutional Failures," and a recent interview with Government Executive magazine in which he suggested that Congress had been overly deferential to the administration's penchant for secrecy and insufficiently protective of government whistle-blowers

1. Federal employees know there is a new American KGB at work
They know the top positions and policy making is done by political cronies hand picked for who they know, and what they are willing to do, not what they know.

They know policies are being made to deliberately make their work more difficult, less effective and more likely to piss off the client: the US taxpayer. They know this is being done in an attempt to make Americans mad enough to get behind privatization in hope that things would run better if done 'like a business'

Fact is, things are being run by businessmen at top levels and being run into the ground so they can justify their pals taking over openly and profitably.

Here is a handy link for you all to check out re fed employees. They are mad as hell but know they are limited by law (and now, by lawless administration) as to what they can do and say.

I know there are federal workers who check this sight as soon as they get home from work. Might be they are meeting with frustration and obstacles on a daily basis and want to see if it is just them or if it is the common condition. They know they are being kept in the dark and fed bullshit. But most of them are not stupid and a goodly portion seem mad as hell.

3. LOL! PM me if you like, about what you do for a living.
My id and my ego have a bet about where your paycheck might come from :hi:

I see the pain of the many which is caused by the few in the effort to steal America from its people.

To be honest, I have a theory about all the shit hitting the fan and blowing back at the junta at present.

There are many public servants who truly love America, know whom they actually serve, and remember oaths given to an instrument of governance and NOT to a particular group of people sitting in particular office spaces.

Cheney should NEVER have assumed he could play chess with the spooks. Game on, Chicken Hawks. Game on and clock ticking.
