Rumsfeld's opinion piece, and my LTTE...
Read Rummy's spew in the WaPo at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/17/AR2006031701797_pf.html (reg. req'd).

And my LTTE:

Dear Sirs:

I find it odd that you should continue to provide an additional forum for Secretary Rumsfeld to rehash the Bush administration's memes about "staying the course" and all the progress that's been made already in the Iraqi quagmire. It is as if the transcription and reiteration by major media outlets of the government's fallacious talking points does not suffice. Also, we should take into consideration that this is the same credible source who before the war famously stated about Saddam's WMDs that "We know where they are; they're in the area around Tikrit."

"Turning our backs on postwar Iraq today would be the modern equivalent of handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis," he ominously predicts. I disagree. I consider the modern equivalent of handing postwar Germany to the Nazis to be the Supreme Court's 2000 decision stopping the Florida recount and handing the US government to this criminal cabal that has hijacked our government. And the PATRIOT Act is our equivalent of the Nazis' Enabling Act.

America über alles.

1. I also had to respond.....
Dear Editor,

In Donald Rumsfield's propaganda piece published in your paper
he claims "Turning our backs on postwar Iraq today would be the modern
equivalent of handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis." I would like to know just who the Secretary considers to be the Nazis.
Would it be the innocent families who's homes we invade, kicking down
doors and rousting them out of their beds? Would it be the detainees held
in our torture chambers formerly used by Saddam Hussein?
Or could the Nazis in this case possibly be the invaders and occupiers,
you know, the ones that illegaly invaded a sovereign country, shocking and
awing before electrically shocking and beating the citizens in their own homes.

2. Kudos, let's swamp 'em!
Vive le Bastille! (or however those cheese-eating surrender monkeys commemorate Bastille Day...)
