Panic in Liebermanland: Say it ain't so, Joe

Sen. Joe Lieberman must know something we don't know.

And not about the war in Iraq that he keeps telling us is going so well, but about his race for re-election,

Maybe he's got a poll that shows Ned Lamont getting a little too close for comfort.

For Joe has apparently pushed the panic button.

He has "gone negative" with two TV ads that are harsh and mean spirited.

Usually incumbent senators regard primary challengers with Olympian detachment and bemusement. (At least that is the public pose.)

Lieberman is trying to take Lamont out.

Holy Joe knows the reason the noose is tightening around his neck.....

the war in Iraq.

It's a loser, a bomb, a quagmire you name it.

Joe Liarman was too confident, too sure of his embedded relationship with Bush to ever question the logic of that.

And now? I wonder if he'll change his stand?
