Fall Elections Are Rove's Next Test
Reputation as Architect of Victory at Stake

White House political strategist Karl Rove emerges from the CIA leak case with his reputation scuffed, his power slightly diminished, and Republicans counting on him, once again, to help rescue their House and Senate majorities.

Described by friends as relieved and recharged after getting the news this week that he will not be indicted in the leak probe, Rove now faces another verdict this fall over his abilities as a political strategist and his ambition to build an enduring GOP majority.

Rove's reputation as a campaign operative is unparalleled -- he is hailed by President Bush as the architect of his 2004 reelection -- but his judgment in melding politics and policy into an effective governing strategy has been called into question in the president's second term. Bush endured the worst stretch of his presidency when Rove's powers inside the White House were at their peak.

Not all of the problems can be laid at Rove's feet, given how much the Iraq war has damaged the president's standing. But Rove was the conceptual brains and chief cheerleader behind what turned into the biggest domestic policy failure of Bush's presidency -- the effort to introduce personal savings accounts into the Social Security program.

1. Does The Anti-Christ Turn Wine into Water?

or should that be whine?

Unless Kkkarl has more money than we think AND super powers, he's going to fail big time. The country is within spitting distance of revolt, and the electronic vote rigging isn't going to pass this time. Too many oxen have been gored.

2. I'd wait and see.
Personally, I think we're all going to be looking at each other in November with gaping mouths wondering how the fuck they stole it again and no one seems to care.

3. You are probably right
All they have to do is say "illegal immigration" and "gay marriage" and the folks will run to the polls and vote against their own interests once again. America gets what it deserves.

5. Its the war
Divisions on Iraq are the downfall. The most pressing issue of the day is the war. The rethugs know it and so they paint Democrats as weak and ineffective. Instead of standing up for what is right many of our own politicians kowtow to Bush. I just don't get it sometimes. America doesn't want Bush's war and yet they will be hyped into believing that it is for their own good.

9. There will be no "elections" in the usual sense, in OH and FL
and rigging those states will be plenty to keep the House and Senate in the GOP's hands. Fair elections are a thing of the past, and the fact that Satan was able to commit treason without any repercussion should awake even the most starry-eyed optimists that the Republic is long gone.
