Burning Cole (what's behind Yale's rejection o f Juan Cole)
"I knew when I began to speak out that I wasn't going to be hired. I knew my academic career was over. I knew that I can be in this place, be a professor of Middle Eastern studies at the University of Michigan for the rest of my life. But I would never be a dean. I would never be a provost. I would never be in the Ivy League. I'm not surprised. I'm not upset. Actually, the bizarre thing is that Juan Cole was considered by Yale in the first place."

1. This is a damned shame.

As a display of my naivete, I actually thought Cole would get this position & was delighted by the prospect. There was no doubt that he was eminently qualified, if it were Harvard, I would have been doubtful but at Yale I thought he could get the seat.

What a loss for Yale, I am so tired of these right wing jerks screwing up literally everything in this Country. Yet we have posters come here and lecture us on the need for civility to the right. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1465199&mesg_id=1465199

2. Sort of ironic how the
pro-Zionists, AIPAC, ADL types piss and moan and cry in their beer about how they're falsely accused of using their influence to control the public debate in the US in order to limit criticism of Israel and Zionism and then they go ahead and, by their own actions, provide the evidence to confirm that the accusation is valid after all.

4. Anyone who criticizes Smirk at all, ever, even slightly, can
expect to be harrassed to the grave. Stalin would approve.
