"President O'Reilly" would run Iraq "just like Saddam ran it"
On the June 19 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Bill O'Reilly declared that if he were the president of Iraq, he would run the country "just like Saddam ran it," by establishing curfews and shooting violators "right between the eyes." O'Reilly added that what he proposed is "not the kind of country I want for Iraq," but reasoned that "you have to have that for a few months to stabilize the situation so the Iraqi government can get organized, can get security in place and get the structure going."

Later in the broadcast, responding to a caller who identified himself as a former Marine who had been stationed in Tal Afar, Iraq, O'Reilly reiterated his plan for Iraq:

O'REILLY: The curfews work. You shoot on sight. That's it. And if the Italian press doesn't like it, tough. The New York Times doesn't like it? Too bad. War is a performance business.

1. Then get your ass over there, O'Lielly.
If you're so eager to shoot people on sight, get your ticket now and get over there and put some money where your big fat ugly mouth is.

Of course you won't, because you're a loud-mouthed coward, Falafel 'Man'.

2. I'm growing fond of O'Reilly
you can always count on him to say the most ridiculous things, and he doesn't have a clue he's saying them.

If he were a character in a movie, I'd dismiss it for being too cartoonish.

3. Haha ha ha ha. Of course he would. haha ha
He had to add that qualifier, even though it is a bald-faced lie. Dictator O'Reichly would be for life. But he had to do it to try and seem human.

Tried and failed.

5. If that is not the epitome of hypocrisy
I don't know what is. We are running the prisons like he did already. We have turned them over to a certain sect that is guarding another sect whom they dislike. They are allowing them to abuse each other now. It's sick and wrong. Where are all the private contractors in this? Who knows what trouble they stir up and where. This is their bread and butter. There are stories floating around out there that a guy will be stopped at a check point, have his license taken, he goes where his license is and gets it back. Meanwhile the car feels 'funny', he makes a cell call, leaves the car for better reception and when he connects the car blows up. You can't tell who the good guys are.

6. "A few months to stabilize the situation"
There was a guy talking on The Majority Report tonight, I think a writer in Iraq, not sure. Anyway, he said that we just went in there, hired Iraqi cops, trained them, and gave them equipment. We didn't set up systems and procedures. So the Iraqis just took the equipment and organized death squads and such.

It's funny how we're just a few months away if we did things O'Reilly's way. It's like he thinks we're not "shooting violators right between the eyes" already. Non-violators too sometimes, I understand. The problem is not that one-balled bloviators like O'Reilly weren't listened to enough. Quite the opposite.

7. Hey, waita minnit--that's a brilliant idea. Let's call off Saddam's trial,
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 12:03 AM by Jackpine Radical
give the country back to him, and bring all our troops home. Then we could sell him some weapons to protect himself from the Iranians with. Maybe some poison gas or something. Sounds like a win all the way around to me.
