On Iraq, Kerry Again Leaves Democrats Fuming
By KATE ZERNIKE

WASHINGTON, June 20 — When Senator John Kerry was their presidential nominee in 2004, Democrats fervently wished he would express himself firmly about the Iraq war.

Mr. Kerry has found his resolve. But it has not made his fellow Democrats any happier. They fear the latest evolution of Mr. Kerry's views on Iraq may now complicate their hopes of taking back a majority in Congress in 2006.

As the Senate prepared for what promises to be a sharp debate starting on Wednesday about whether to begin pulling troops from Iraq, the Democratic leadership wants its members to rally behind a proposal that calls for some troops to move out by the end of this year but does not set a fixed date for complete withdrawal. Mr. Kerry has insisted on setting a date, for American combat troops to pull out in 12 months, saying anything less is too cautious.

In drawing up a schedule for the Wednesday session, the Democratic leadership has arranged for its plan to be debated first, pushing Mr. Kerry and his proposal into the evening, too late for the nightly television news, to starve it of some attention.......

1. What is the problem with these people
Do they secretly approve of the war? They truly need to find their balls. Go Mr. Kerry, tell em all about the "lie and die" president.

4. Oh goody, it's time to form a firing squad! Everybody in a circle.
Why can't these clowns get their shit together?

Surely there was room for compromise here. The story last week was that the Democrats have no plan. This week the story is that they have too many plans and cannot come to an agreement.

The Senate Democrats are now attacking Kerry for insisting on an end date for the war in Iraq. They've come up with their own rather watered down version of goals and objectives leading to a withdrawal--sometime in the future.

Is it really so difficult to come up with an approach that combines goals and objectives with target dates and the understanding that if events on the ground demand it the target dates can be moved back--or forward if things are going well.

This is all a political show anyway. The Republicans will never vote for either of these bills. If the Democrats intended this as a show of resolve, they've managed to screw it up and embarrass themselves.

The donkey runs true to form again.

5. There is something wrong here
this appears to be a classic dose of Republican propaganda.(Its just too obvious)This article isn't even well written.Just the way the article is structured its only purpose was to slam Kerry and an attempt to make the Democrats look weak. Karl Rove's behind this somehow ..Kate's first voice mail this morning is Karl thanking here..

10. OH, please this is propaganda from the SCREW YORK TIMES!
This is written by another ass-kissing PRE$$TITUTE with a long history of Republican bias.

Outside of Krugman, the rest of the garbage that appears in the New York Times isn't fit to be toilet paper
