The Unitarian Universalist Association is drawing large crowds to its annual General Assembly this weekend at America's Center.
More than 4,000 members of the group from congregations around the country and from other countries are attending the five-day event, which began Wednesday.
"It's a joyful, exuberant, spirited gathering of people of faith who are not ashamed to be called religious liberals in an era when liberal is considered by many to be a dirty word," said the Rev. Suzanne Meyer, minister of the First Unitarian Church of St. Louis. "We are proudly religious and proudly liberal."
The event features guest speakers, authors, ministers preaching sermons, social service projects and social justice witness projects, as well as fellowship, worship, workshops and music.
