Flag burning issue is a waste of time
With the war in Iraq, immigration, budget shortfalls and a mounting federal debt staring Congress in the face, federal lawmakers can scarcely afford to waste time.

But there they go. The Senate worried last week about gay marriage.

Next up, possibly: flag burning. Always a crowd-pleaser for Republicans trying to woo their conservative base, a constitutional amendment allowing Congress to outlaw desecration of the flag is high on Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's list of must-dos ...

A First Amendment Center poll last year showed 63 percent of Americans did not favor a flag-burning amendment ...

2. the GOP loves to pander to its ingorant base
the GOP doesn't care about gays and flag burning either but it is important that their ignorant fans get to the polls and sh** like this does it
