Am I the only person who is tired of seeing mothers dramatically protesting the "indecency" of television the internet and video games?
They are always out there lurking around just waiting for something like the Grand Theft Auto hot coffee mod, or some porn site to go to far, or Janet Jacksons breast to pop back out. Now I am not condoning any of these things, but what the hell ever happened to parental responsibility in this country?
For all of the above things there have been parental groups who try to ban or heavily restrict the whole topic for the rest of us. When for all of the above things PARENTS CAN TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. Don't want your kids to watch a certain show? Block it, almost all TV sets come with that capability. Don't want your child going to a bad website? Block it, its even easier than with the TV. Don't want your child to play a certain video game? THEN FOR GODS SAKE DON'T BUY IT.
We have all seen or heard of the commercial where the kids get high and see a gun lying around, then one shoots the other. Only, only, only in this country is it the guns fault, or the pots fault, or the crappy babysitter, and I always think where the hell was the parent? At work out of town? Then hide the gun and lock it up, and if your kids smoking something in your hose and you don't know, then if your kid isn't a freakin super genius or Bush's next press secretary your a bad parent, or stupid, or both.
This is one of the few groups of people that are trying to legislate their taste. They want to make their opinions law no matter how much it entrenches on the first amendment. They want someone to take the initiative for them and I, for one, am sick as hell of it. Leave porn tv and video games alone and learn to be good parents instead of taking the easy way out.
