Pope worried about 3%
OK, if I was ever going to think of this guy as any sort of moral leader this just put that to rest.

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/06/21/europe/EU-REL-Vatican-Iraq.php

Sure, the Assyrians are caught in the crossfire, and sure, I think frequently about the family of an Assyrian woman who used to work for me, and wonder how they are doing.

but to single out less than 3% of the 26 million Iraqis for special concern because they belong to your cult -

well, just screw him

1. Maybe he should stick to the rules of the road...What was
the driving thing all about anyway? I missed that little gift to the world.

2. On further in the article....
"During their talks at the Vatican on June 9, the pope and Bush discussed the worsening problems of Iraqi Christians. Bush said the pope "was concerned that the society that was evolving would not tolerate the Christian religion.... He's worrisome about the Christians inside Iraq being mistreated by the Muslim majority."

Maybe if Christians were'nt so intolerate of everybody else, people might cut them some slack. You make your bed, you have to lie in it....

3. Seeing he was speaking to the Assyrian Church
it's kind of logical that he would mention Assyrians. I'm glad when any religious group speaks against the war and violence in the ME.

"audience with the patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East."

4. Did the Pope happen to notice--
--that Christians were doing just fine under Saddam?
