Leave Iraq...(yawn) and nothing much happens.
My posting today is a response to http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/postglobal/saul_singer/2007/07/if_iran_gets_nukes_iraq_fails.html">this editorial editorial posted on the Washington Post web site. First of all, the author is an Israeli native, so he obviously has an incentive to goad the United States into a war with Iran so that Israel can avoid military confrontation with a country whose President wants to "wipe Israel off the map." Israel needs to run their own foreign policy, minus no-questions-asked US backing.

Second, the author sets the bar for diplomatic success against Iran unattainably high. In his view, all the US has to do is convince every single major world power to quash Iran with a "complete trade, banking, travel, and diplomatic embargo." The United States was barely able to convince China to stop selling military hardware to North Korea after Kim Jong "Chang Wang" Il lit off a nuclear bomb in his backyard!

Then, the author says that if we lose Iraq, we risk being threatened by an Islamofascist Iran/Queda/Taliban alliance. That is quite possibly the stupidest foreign policy assertion since the current administration asserted that Iraq was a threat... http://hamlettpost.com/2007/07/19/views-for-july-19-2007-leave-iraqand-nothing-much-happens/">Click here to continue reading
