Who's to blame for the "do-nothing congress"? By a 2-1 margin, Americans say Bush, GOP

You should all check out the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll on Iraq, SCHIP, etc.
The most interesting and revealing part of this survey was, IMO, the fact that by a wide margin, Americans believe that Republican obstructionism, and not Democratic unwillingness to legislate in favor of Americans, is the main reason why congress has achieved so little during this term.

By a 2 to 1 margin, those who see little accomplishment in Congress's first nine months blame the inaction on Bush and the GOP more than they do the majority Democrats. Fifty-one percent place primary fault with the president and congressional Republicans, and 25 percent on the Democrats. Among independents, 43 percent blame Republicans, 23 percent Democrats and nearly three in 10 blame both sides equally.

This is a wake-up call for those who scream "do-nothing congress!" in an attempt to blame Democrats for the Republicans' premeditated obstructionism.

2. Your point?
Congress as a whole is rated really, really bad.

If your point is that this is a good situation and that it's fortunate that Democrats are helpless to end the war, because it'll be great for 2008 electoral prospects, well, that's sad, but possibly true. It's not like people want to vote Republican instead. If that's not your point, it is, nonetheless, the view of the House leadership (Pelosi/Hoyer/Emanuel) as revealed by recent interviews so, that's the party line.

8. My take on the post is that, while it's not a 'good' thing, it's not as bad as...
...is being reported. Many were castigating the Congress for their various actions/inactions. Failure to achieve veto- and filibuster-proof vote totals should not call into question the integrity of those who do not have the members in their particular legislative body.

Thanks for the (original) post!

When you have a tinpot in the Whitehouse who veto's everything and an obstructionist minority in the congress, it gets very hard to do anything.

4. Thank you for pointing this out--The Television Media
gives the impression to the Masses that the "Democrats failed
to pass'"....Again today the Democrats failed......Democrats failed
again today. This has been a bad week for Democrats."

Republicans get themselve on TV to talk about the Do Nothing Democrats.
Democrats are rooting for Defeat.

Most Americans get their news from TV.

Your post is important in the event, people see it after being
given the impression--the problem is Democrats.

Thanks again

5. 54% want cheney impeached, 70% want withdrawal form Iraq, so those numbers aren't
so great for the dems.
