You know you're in deep when your puppet starts pulling your strings
Pakistan
by Ed Kociela | January 13, 2008

As if things weren't bad enough, the president is going and pissing off somebody who actually has weapons of mass destruction and the balls to use them.

All it will take is the stroke of a pen to authorize covert unilateral CIA attacks against al-Qaida in Pakistan, without the permission of strongman Pervez Musharraf.

"Nobody will come here until we ask them to come, and we haven't asked them," Musharraf said in a New York Times report. "There is a perception in the United States as if what our army cannot do, they can do. This is a very wrong perception. I challenge anyone coming into our mountains. They would regret that day."

You know you're in deep when your puppet starts pulling your strings and threatens to circumcise you with a broad axe.

Now, Musharraf says if there is good intelligence regarding the location of Osama bin Laden, a joint U.S.-Pakistani team will go snuff him. Until then, any perceived racheting of CIA activities will be considered as a threat against the sovereignty of Pakistan.

The Pakistanis already hate us and view any American boot print a threat against their sovereignty let alone letting a bunch of spooks loose in the tribal areas to foment even more fear and loathing.

And we wonder why the pointedly statesman George McGovern was prodded to ink a tidy bit of prose calling for impeachment. Why can't we get anybody other than Dennis Kucinich interested in following suit? I mean, wouldn't that be the onset of real change? Besides, the way these guys are going, there might not be a lot left to change if we wait until November.
