Hospitals say, "no money, no care"
There are lots of small business owners out there that are living life on the edge: They have little to no health insurance.

They figure they're pretty healthy, so they can save money by paying doctors for routine visits out of pocket. But what if they get a serious illness?

Most of you out there figure you'll go to the hospital, get the treatment you need to get nursed back to health and then deal with the bills as they come in. Hospitals, especially nonprofits, have to treat people, right?

Think again.

2. Well, with the costs of everything going up, who will be spared?
If you have even one congenital defect, save your money for the hospital. College won't do any good...

5. I know what I would do......
Edited on Mon May-12-08 12:35 AM by Perragrande
If I was diagnosed with a serious condition such as cancer, or needed surgery or a major procedure. I have no job and no insurance. Mine is all out of pocket. Right now I'm calling imaging clinics (and being put on hold) to attempt to ask them how much a mammogram costs. My mother had breast cancer in the same side that I have already had two biopsies with three chunks taken out for microcalcifications.

I would go to Mexico to the American-trained doctors there.

As far as cancer treatment, this is much cheaper than the usual stuff, and the M.D. who runs the clnic TOLD ME IN PERSON that M.D. Anderson Hospital and Clinic (biggest cancer hospital in the world) knows that this cheap alternative therapy works, but they won't use it...----> www.infusionclinic.com

6. Did everyone read the comments?
That doctor who posted on there - I certainly wouldn't want him to treat me!

The last comment though, by the old guy who learned about the human body, I think I need to check him out and learn a thing or two.

7. Yep- it's all about "customers" and "credit"
Only in America would people find it acceptable to think of health care in those terms.

10. Quick path to universal health care
Yea, works for me.

Lots of people could afford to either buy insurance, or pay their bills. Instead I pay premiums that are twice what they should be, because out of 10 people that visit the emergency room, no way in heck are ten insured.

Something has to turn up the pressure to force enough Republicans out of Congress to get universal health care. Until the Senate is in Democratic control (like 60 seats) it ain't gonna happen.
