Big Brown runs again today
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/horse/triplecrown08/news/story?id=3400061 Big Brown races again today.

Eight Bell had no abnormal bone problems or drugs in her system. Then what...the track or the side of the track collision? A hole in the track?

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/17/sports/othersports/17horses.html?partner=rssyahoo&emc=rss The questions still remain about the race horses after they are no longer needed.

He never saw anything like it? Strange indeed.

That photo taken at the Derby. It was pretty dusty as they ran I noticed too. Was it sandy?

3. It was pretty dry......
..... dusty, alright.... the piece I saw this morning of the track where the race is gonna be run today was soaking wet. It's muddy and therefore 'heavy'..... The wetter the track the heavier it is.....some horses do better on a dry track some do well on a muddier track.... I dunno which one Big Brown 'prefers'....

7. At the Derby they were saying it might be better for other
horses to win.

4. It could have been .....
...that she hit the box....however that's unlikely. I haven't seen any video or picture that she was 'unruly' in the starter box. It might have been something that was wrong with her ankles for a while and wasn't noticed (if there weren't obvious symptoms). I seen footage of the race - she showed no signs of anything being wrong.... but then sometimes adrenaline keeps a horse going even with injuries - and it doesn't show until the horse slows down. Hard to say.

5. No. If you look at the ralling there is a cement base.
They were pretty close to that in the race as I remember.

8. I was excited about the Derby. I posted at DU about that excitement.
I'm done with horse racing. These horses are bred to be too fragile or something, but what happened to Eight Belles was the last straw. It just keeps happening over and over again, and it never happened when I enjoyed watching Native Dancer in 1968 or Secretariat in 1973. You never even considered it. Now, it's a normal event.

If I want to watch crashes, I'll take up NASCAR. These beautiful animals deserve better than they get, and if it happens again today, at least I won't be watching it this time. That was terrible two weeks ago.

On TV today they ranted about how angry baseball fans were about steroids, etc. and would not go to a game again. Well the man stated I guess they do since the stadiums are always packed.

I hate to tell this man that it doesn't take a large percentage of any city to pack a stadium. A city of 500,000 might take what to fill a stadium?

Problem is the money and the corruption in sports today. Eventually they will lose favor and fail. It doesn't happen right away. They can't say they weren't warned.

10. Big Brown is one win away now from capturing the triple crown
I wonder when the last time we had a triple crown winner was.
