Detroit Free Press editorial: The Mayor we have come to know (Kwame must resign)
Born and raised in Detroit, and it will always be "home." Coleman Young was flawed but a fighter. Dennis Archer was and is a class act all the way. But Detroit's current mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, is a liar and a bully. He must step down.

"Kwame Kilpatrick took office as Detroit's 59th mayor with all the promise of a bold young leader, brimming with energy and ideas. He faltered, recovered and appeared to be growing into leadership. Now, however, the real Kwame Kilpatrick stands exposed by scandal -- dishonest, selfish and greedy, a crippled leader clinging to an office he can no longer claim to deserve. These are among the episodes that have peeled away the Kilpatrick façade . . ."

1. Kwame's a Klown
I knew it when he was a guest on Bill Maher some years ago. But friends of mine in The D whose intellect I trust were staunch supporters, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But now even those staunch supporters are 'disappointed' with him.

He's got to go. I have high hopes for Ken Cockrell Jr. I met his dad once, what a great guy.

2. I predict his resignation within a week. And what's with the Wings?
I couldn't believe they couldn't close out the Stars at home yesterday.

It's tough being a Detroit fan, that's for sure.

3. Why would he resign now?
Seems like if he was going to resign, he would have resigned after the indictment came down. By not resigning then, he essentially doubled down, so he's probably going to stay in it for the long haul. It's not like he has something great to look forward to if he resigns. The prosecution will only get more vicious on him, plus he loses the resignation bargaining chip.

4. ha
The Wings will be ok. Gotta respect Dallas, though. Very soulful team. I like them, and I'm happy for Marty Turco, finally won at The Joe.

I'm not at all sure Kwame's going to resign within the week, that will be interesting to watch.
