Bush says he'll work to forgive ex-aide in a closed fundraiser for McCain in Utah
President spoke to Utah crowd about his former spokesman's new book

DEER VALLEY - President Bush told an intimate audience that he hasn't read his former spokesman Scott McClellan's book, and doesn't plan to, but he is disappointed with the criticisms made by the former White House confidant.

Bush, speaking Wednesday night at an extended question-and-answer session during a fundraiser at Mitt Romney's luxurious home, told the group that he will work to forgive McClellan for what he wrote, according to individuals at the event.

McClellan writes in a new book that Americans were misled by a White House "political propaganda campaign'' to justify the war in Iraq. He also said he was misled by top officials about their role in leaking the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

Bush said he was most disappointed because McClellan could have raised his concerns at any time, according to Kirk Jowers, director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah, and another attendee who asked not to be named.

The president told attendees at the closed-door fundraiser for Sen. John McCain that, in politics, you get to see the best and worst in people. He said that McClellan is "not the same guy" who he knew going back to his first presidential run.

2. McClellan could have raised his concerns at any time
Maybe he did, and that's why Josh Bolton dumped him. Of course, they would never admit that.

i think mcclullen adored the fuckhead.

when he realized he didn't mean shit to the fuckhead it really pissed him off. hence, the kiss and tell (some of it) all.

7. Glad to hear McClellan's evolved.
Glad to hear he's not the same guy they all knew. Bush should pray for the 4,083 American and the 50,000 Iraqi souls his arrogance and incompetence has cost. And for the record, McClellan blames Rove and senior advisors for the runup to this war? Bush annointed them and as Commander-in-Chief top dog, he is responsible for their actions.

6. Well, as a true Christian, shouldn't Bush just be able to 'forgive' Scotty for telling the truth?

8. I read that line as "Bush told an inmate audience"
Obviously, wishful thinking on my part.
