Corporate Media Already Lying to Boost The Reputation of Another Corrupt Republican

Jack Kemp has just died and the corporate press are already abandoning any pretense of balance, fairness, or accuracy. This was one of the most venal hucksters in the history of American politics, yet he is being lionized.

If you recall, Kemp was the con artist who popularized the scam of "supply side economics" to the extreme right. This "theory" claimed that cutting taxes would raise revenues and living standards for the American people. When another dishonest, bought politician, Ronald Reagan, led the effort to apply this tripe, we had enormous deficits and the wages of most Americans declined as the rich got richer. One of the few honest things pappy Bush ever said was when he described it as "Voodoo Economics."

Kemp wasn't a drooling imbecile. He knew that what he was saying was downright laughable. He didn't care. He was completely bought and paid for by wealthy interests who wanted undeserved tax cuts regardless of the consequences for the country, the middle class, and the poor.

Politics and religion are the only two fields where brazen fraud doesn't get prosecuted. If Kemp had attempted to defraud the public in any other field on a comparable scale, he would have been imprisoned for years. He would have deserved it.

To put it simply, Jack Kemp was the Bernie Madoff of politics.

The corporate media also is lying feverishly when they say Kemp was "compassionate." Kemp didn't give a rat's ass about poor people. He just exploited them rhetorically to push "enterprise zones" in poor communities which made his wealthy donors wealthier but did little to employ or otherwise help the communities they exploited for the purposes of selective tax evasion. Even worse, revenues lost because of these scams resulted in services to poor people being cut. So much for "compassion."

Far from being compassionate to women, he was filled with such a vicious and compromising hatred that he actually opposed the basic human right of women to choose on abortion. He was so bigoted against atheists and non-Christians in general that he actually supported unconstitutional, coerced prayer in public schools.

Jack Kemp was a hateful and dishonest political hack without even the slightest human decency. When corporate media lionize this monster, they make it clear that they exist to push the financial agendas of the people who own them. Accurate news reporting is pretty much forbidden in the corporate spin zone.

Liberals are much more inclined to read newspapers, to try to be informed on the issues, and to read in general. Yet, the corporate media go out of their way to insult our intelligence with lies that would strain the credulity of a ten year old. If these media outlets don't start at least trying to be honest and accurate, they are going the way of the mastodons, extinct animals far to similar to the symbol of the GOP.

Update: Joe My God reminds us that Kemp also was an obsessive heterosexist bigot.

I took me awhile to find an honest article about Jack Kemp.

MAY HE ROT IN HELL!

4. The corporate spin zone
comments say it all completely. I suppose it is arguable whether Kemp was a true believer bumpkin maybe less corrupted on the Gerry Ford model and less plain stupid than Bush about whom a similar argument ranges between sincere dupe and nefarious scoundrel. In the end it doesn't matter. Kemp's presidential aspirations may have been simply doomed because he was too much a true believer in absolute nonsense to be malleable and not up to the cold blooded fascism. The picture I get of him is pretty atrocious, despicable and placed in comfortable stables by the RW GOP as something not worth pumping joice into to win a race. There may be a need to get to his self awareness, which in any case among the pampered and self-entitled rich elites has some degree of self delusion built in. The results are enough.

On these boards- for years- bending to the "personal integrity" PR aura surrounding McCain, the real character- with ample evidence- never kept people from respecting, fearing and swallowing whole the mirage even to the point of thinking him acceptable on OUR ticket. I wish that situation would change in two ways. Yes, get to the character if it is exposed tellingly beyond the MSM pale. Yes, get to the actions and results by which all men, especially pols, should be judged. Yes, save the schmaltz and eulogizing or emotionalizing to the victims not to the leader mystique( especially noxious and required by guys for some reason).

Emotions and ignorance and whitewashing the truth constantly give these guys and their media shills the Pavlovian drooling they need. The heart of the matter is being harder on ourselves and not forgetting the knife still in our backs regarding the leadership and information and economy institutions.

For the sake of not being bitter jerks we might be willing to let the smarmy tears go unchallenged, but not the truth. The truth was Kemp was ruined by the absurdity of a failed supply side economic reign or error that the MSM let slide by quietly into its grave except as a matter of burying a schmuck the extremists never wanted. Every service that Kemp performed for the GOP as a yokel prop to "moderate conservatives" with a mythical ideology was paid for in cash. Every personal ambition was tightly controlled. When dumped he was kept on the pad as a touring club spokesman with stone blind loyalty to remaining myths, if any, left behind in the wake of Reagan's actual disasters.

There are no more actors, football players, or corporate princelings left as props or dummies. Combat heroes are reduced to McCain's questionable military career. Gun toters are reduced to dead-eye Dick in his Fortress of Solitude and Caribou Barbie. Kemp leaves this as the passing of an empty suit era that transplants fake heroes into high office for low ends. He leaves fully enriched by a world he caused much suffering in and praised by the literal scum of the earth. For his soul's sake I hope he is the noble naif coasting through his folly as is the best anyone could believe of him. For the world's sake, I agree with the poster in heartfelt wishes of demolishing his damnable heritage and cutting the crap.
