Release the torture photos, Mr. President (Kansas City Star editorial)
By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist

President Barack Obama has suddenly decided to try to block public access to pictures of U.S. forces allegedly torturing prisoners. It's the wrong move to make ...

A court has correctly ordered the release of the pictures.

There is no overwhelming national security reason to block that action. Instead, Obama should respect the Freedom of Information Act, and the judicial rulings ordering the release of the photos ...

The Obama administration should meet the May 28 deadline of releasing the photos.

3. "There is no overwhelming national security reason ...
... to block that action."

I had no idea that Mr. Abouhalkah was privy to national security briefings, and is therefore in a position to make such an all-encompassing statement.
