Democrats: Al Franken isn't enough (Waaah, we don't have the votes)
A series of setbacks in the Senate has Democratic leaders warning their supporters that they won’t be able to accomplish everything they set out to do this year — even if Al Franken joins them as a 60th vote.

With a 59-40 majority — just short of what they need to overcome GOP filibusters — Democrats watched helplessly this week as Republicans blocked the confirmation of one of Barack Obama’s top Interior Department nominees.

They also struggled with the confirmation of one of Obama’s Justice Department picks, witnessed the adoption of an amendment allowing guns inside national parks and suffered major pushback against Obama’s plans to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

And with contentious fights over health care, climate change and Obama’s first Supreme Court pick ahead, some Democratic senators are now convinced that they can’t wade into some of the hot-button social issues their supporters would like them to pursue.

If Congress were 100% Dems, Reid would still be whining he doesn't have the votes so has to "cave" (wink wink) to corporate interests.

2. Reid can annoy me also but there is a truth to be remembered:
There are Liberal and Progressive Democrats.

There are Conservative and Centrist Democrats.

Conservative and Centrist Democrats do not believe or always
vote the same as Progressive and Liberal Democrats.

The Democratic Party does not require members to vote in Lockstep.

So maybe this time Reid is just stating facts, not whining.

Every now and then I give him a break.

It is my understanding that when a member decides to run he/she
can vote his/her district. This means we may never have enough
votes for anything. The Party made this decision.

4. Reid is a fully paid up member of the conservative group

and he takes his marching orders from Mitch McConnell.

He doesn't deserve a break. He uses the whine "I don't have the votes" as a cover to hide the fact that he doesn't WANT the votes. He wants leftie bills to fail.

5. This is just more evidence that Reid stinks at his job.
It is time that people more qualified for these positions get them, rather than those who are there the longest.

6. Guess what guys, you't "won't have the votes" come November either.
You can be replaced with someone that wants to do the job honestly. There are a lot of people unemployed now, being a Congressperson is a pretty good job.

10. Funny how the republicans and the oaf in office
seemed to get everything they wanted even without a majority.

11. I am dumbfounded by the lack of aggressiveness from our Democratic leadership
We have a majority in the House of Representatives.

We have a majority in the Senate.

We hold the Executive Branch.

Nancy Pelosi lets herself get all wound up in who-briefed-who-when until the right wing is making it look like she was torturing prisoners.

Harry Reid is given the biggest advantage the Democrats have ever had over a weak and failing Republican Party, and he just whines that it he doesn't have enough of a majority to pass our legislation.

My advise to Harry Reid:

Tell the Democrats to get in line, vote the party line or they will be put at the end of the line when they want to author new bills.

Harry and Nancy need to get the big bills that benefit the whole country passed first, then work on the smaller bills that help out specific districts.

As for the Republicans - they should be crushed and ignored.
