Security can be a threat to Indian outsourcing
Friday, May 22, 2009

BANGALORE, INDIA: "Security concerns can become threat to the Indian IT and BPO industry", said Jerry Rao, member of the Board, Data Security Council of India(DSCI).

He further added that security could become a bad mark for the country.

Data Security Council of India (DSCI), today organized an seminar on 'Data Protection Imperatives in a Global Delivery Model', where it kicked off the first chapter in Bangalore.

While giving the inaugural address at the event, Harsh Manglik, chairman and geography managing director, Accenture India and vice chairman of the Executive Council for NASSCOM said, "The threat is for personal as well as national security and is serious and major for all parts of eco-system."

He added that in present situations are coming from malign intent and have moved into criminal activity for causing disruptions, steal, and creating economic havoc.

He further said that there cannot be a single bullet solution. There has to be a system to address them.

1. Who are the security experts?
Edited on Fri May-22-09 10:17 PM by Deja Q
Nobody's perfect, but one needn't be the king of chess players to fathom other countries have different laws, different standards, different customs, maybe a lack of laws, et cetera...

Offshoring was not thought out very well, I'm sorry.

And I'm not an expert: I was thinking America, while the article is all about India.

At least they're worried about becoming a bad mark. Reports of flaky and faulty products from China continue unabated...

Que sera sera. I'm tired of being so pessimistic.

2. Security is meaningless when...
there is a buck to be made. Corporations don't care about security until it has an effect on their bottom line.

Security will become a threat to the Indian Outsourcing business when the people demand it.
