Message to Dems: Get organized
snip..............

This doesn't matter much to me personally, because I'll probably vote for whoever comes out of this process. Dennis Kucinich? Why not, the Cuyahoga River fire finally went out while he was mayor of Cleveland. Al Sharpton? Bring him on, and his hairdresser, too. Carol Moseley Braun? Given the governance of the past two and a half years, I'll settle for Eva Moseley Braun.

But it does matter when it comes to swing voters - the people who actually decide presidential elections in years when the Supreme Court isn't motivated to intervene. To make a voter swing, you have to give him or her something to swing toward - something you can explain in oh, say 16 words or less.

Which is why Howard Dean's face is on the cover of all three weekly news magazines this week. Dean says the Iraq war stinks. The war on terrorism isn't working because of Iraq. We've got deficits as far as a CPA's eye can see. The Bush tax cuts haven't improved the economy and will never improve it.

But talk is cheap. Dean is topic A this week because his tough talk is getting results. People are reaching out to him over the Internet - and they're bringing their wallets.

more...................

2. "Always drink upstream from the herd."
But I liked the last sentence best:

"When you consider the Republicans' post-modern attitude toward elections, as expressed by the Texas and Colorado redistricting moves, the California recall, not to mention the shenanigans that caused the 2000 presidential election debacle, Democrats would be wise to recognize that their rage is perfectly justifiable.

So far, Dean has done pretty well by tapping into that rage. Whether he can sustain it through the general election is anyone's guess. But another bit of Will Rogers' wisdom seems to be serving him well - "Always drink upstream from the herd."

Rogers also has a useful offering of advice for the DLC: "Never miss a good chance to shut up.""

3. That last sentence is right on target
And pretty much one of the major reasons I posted this.
