Geico Voice Actor D.C. Douglas Calls Out Freedomworks, Tea Partiers (BRILLIANT!)
Lance Baxter, better known as D.C. Douglas but perhaps best known as the voice of Geico commercials ("15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more on your car insurance") has been fired by the insurance company after leaving a VOICEMAIL for Tea Party group FreedomWorks.

Douglas asked FreedomWorks in his voicemail what "the percentage of people that are mentally retarded who are working for FreedomWorks and who are following it," or as he has since put it, he "inquired as to their intelligence level."

In the voicemail, Douglas also questions how FreedomWorks will "spin it when one of your members does actually kill somebody, wondering if you've got a PR spinning routine planned for that or are you just gonna take it when it happens."

1. Brilliant?

The message he left was pretty childish, and there are certainly ways he could protest that don't involve flushing his career down the toilet. And what does he gain by leaving an insulting message on their voicemail?

If he's going to call them out on their actions, do it in a way that would have some public impact, and not like some Crank Yanker's call.

Sounds impulsive and stupid to me.

3. And how will the idiots let him know that they aren't "retarded killers"?
By threatening to kill him, of course.

4. Correction about Mr. Douglas and Geico
Mr. Douglas is NOT the "15 minutes could save you 15 per cent. ." voice for Geico. Nor does he voice the gecko character. Instead, he is known for voicing the celebrity-oriented campaign that featured Charo, Joan Rivers, James Lipton and others. He was currently recording new spots for a new campaign when the company decided to terminate him and audition for a replacement.

The misinformation that Mr. Douglas voices the famous tag line is very unfair to the gentleman who holds that distinction.

Thanks
