Fair & Balanced... Messenger fired before the Cop
Fox affiliate refuses to air video of cops brutalizing innocent Latino, even though the video was shot by one of their own employees. Why did it take nearly three weeks for video of a Seattle police officer hurling a racial slur and then stomping on an innocent man to be shown on local television?
The video was shot the night of April 17 by Jud Morris, who worked earlier in the evening as a freelance photographer for KCPQ.
He said he first offered the footage to Q-13. At first, management was excited about the video, Morris said.
But two days later, "I was told 'We’re definitely not going to run this. It’s not egregious. The cop didn’t do anything wrong.'"
A few days after he shot the video, he was fired, Morris said.
After KIRO 7 aired the video Thursday night, Q13 put the video on its website and shared it with other local media outlets.
KCPQ had no comment on the matter.
KCPQ attorneys sent a letter on Friday asking KIRO 7 to stop showing the video and to take it down from kirotv.com.
