Langan changes mind, won't run in recall against Cowles
Posted by scontorno at 5/16/2011 9:47 AM CDT on greenbaypressgazette.com

UPDATE 10:01 a.m. — Rich Langan just put out the following statement: "Due to an unexpected family situation, regretfully, I am unable to run for state senate at this time, but I will vigorously support a strong candidate to replace our current senator who voted to close our public schools."

Last week when making the announcement to run, Langan hinted that a health condition in his family initially made him hesitant to throw his hat in the ring.

"I’d been champing at the bit to run against Rob Cowles and I thought it was going to happen in 2012, however, all of the sudden this recall effort came about, and there was some health issues in my family and I didn’t think I was going to be able to go for the recall. However, my wife said, ‘Go ahead. Do it. Don’t let anything stop you.’”.............

Dang. Now we need to find another Dem to run! Time is running down.

2. Cowles is a bloated tool, just about anyone should be able to defeat him ...
.... any retired County Board Members or any of the suburban Green Bay Dems interested?

4. Nancy Nusbaum announced ...
... former Brown County Executive. I met her a few times when I was in college at UWGB, pretty cool lady. I graduated and left the state while she was still in office but I recall she was defeated or had some minor scandal-thingy ... not sure if that'll hurt her chances.
