JACQUELINE MARCUS FOR BUZZFLASH AT TRUTHOUT
It’s difficult to live with a conscience in an age of nihilism.—Chris Hedges Perhaps Secretary of State Hillary Clinton should consider using that title for a new book. The U.S. media networks and the Obama administration quickly censored NATO’s attack that killed Qaddafi’s son and three grandchildren that were babies. It was reported as an insignificant after-fact, a drop in the bucket. No one apologized. No one in the media said that the attack was morally repugnant and that NATO, under the dictates of the U.S. authority, had no right to bomb Qaddafi’s family home.
Is it all an abstraction for President Obama? No human beings—just targets?
The shameful killings that have been committed by the highest leaders of our government in the name of revenge or terrorism are nauseating to me.
It wasn’t until I read Windy Cooler’s humane and passionate commentary at TruthOut “What Kind of Mother’s Day Did You Have?” that I felt some sense of relief—that I wasn’t the only one who was morally outraged by these senseless military murderous attacks on children. Does it make it acceptable because they are Qaddafi’s family, his son and grandchildren?! Certainly the U.S. government-military-NATO knew that family members were most likely with Qaddafi when they gave the Okay to annihilate his home with Weapons of Mass Destruction.
