Gov. Walker's (WI) approval rating at 43 percent
Good news--the disapproval is being sustained-and even dropping a bit (from the protests).
ONTO THE WALKER RECALL!!

Gov. Walker's approval rating at 43 percent

Gov. Scott Walker's approval rating fell to 43 percent in a statewide survey released this week by Public Policy Polling, down slightly from a February poll by the same firm.

In the survey taken May 19-22 of about 1,600 Wisconsin voters, 43 percent approved of Walker's performance and 54 percent disapproved.

Public Policy Polling conducted the first survey Feb. 24-27, in the early weeks of the fight over collective bargaining. In that survey, 46 percent approved and 52 percent disapproved of Walker.

The North Carolina-based polling company has a Democratic history and client list, though its 2010 election polls in Wisconsin did not appear to favor Democrats.

You realize that the changes since the previous poll are pretty much within the margin of error. That's just sad.

2. Wisconsin is VERY divided right now. Walker supporters have dug in their heels....
...and steadfastly stood with him. However, his latest hijinks which even such Repubs as Glenn Grothman are calling a "give-away" and "reckless" is starting to wake people up.

Further, those not with Walker are against him. I don't believe there's a single soul left in Wisconsin who is undecided.

So, if we can overcome the voter suppression efforts, at least three of his goons will soon be recalled, more to follow.

3. Rick Scott of Florida, eat your heart out
Right now he would kill for a 43% approval rating. His is 29%, dead lowest in the 50 states.
Schadenfreude, sweet schadenfreude.

10. Poor Rickie
Scott. If he'd let a few liberal-looking senior citizens hang around for his Villages propaganda stump, he might gain a point or two. I don't know who I feel worse for -- Florida or Wisconsin. Or Ohio or Indiana. Or Iowa or Kansas or Nebraska or Oklahoma or Texas. Yikes.

5. There's still a large % of the population that resents the public sector ....
The public sector still get better pay and benefits than they do, so a good portion of these people still support Walker ... of course, the people resentful over the benefits of public sector workers are the same people who WON'T support policies that would improve their financial situations, but stupid is as stupid does.

6. Anyone who believes that the Walker recall is going to be a cakewalk is going to be sadly mistaken.
Walker and his minions are not going to relinquish power easily. The Republicans are going to break and bend any rules to win. In fact, they are not really going to play by any rules that do not benefit them. It's silly that Democrats do not understand this by now yet they always wailing and weeping when it appears that Republicans have been up to some electoral or ballot funny business that is never proven to change anything.

The recall and its election is going to be a tough and dirty battle so we may as well be prepared for it. No excuses this time. No excuses for people not voting. No excuses for not having Democratic poll workers everywhere who are not only on top of things, but computer literate as well. No excuses for not dealing with Republican electoral chicanery--being prepared to prevent it and dealing with it as it happens. There should be no reason whatsoever for the "waaaa, waaaa, waaaa, we was robbed" after another election.

Republicans are not omnipotent and unstoppable. Democrats are not weak and helpless, but if we continually allow our pockets to be picked we do appear feckless. This is going to be a tough battle and Democrats need to fight and see it through to the end, no excuses. Otherwise, if we lose, Wisconsin loses and there will be hell to pay if Walker remains in office and sees his victory as a mandate to continue his destruction of this state.

7. In other words, 43% of cheeseheads are mind-numbingly stupid.
And selfish and greedy and mean.

8. That's pretty damn high considering what's going on
especially since it's a Dem pollster. I have a feeling these recalls are going to be a major setback. Although many here at DU will call them "wins" because the Dem didn't lose by a mile.

9. How are
the voting machines up there in swiss cheese country? With magic touch screens and optical illusion scanning, our good friend and national hero Scottie Walker could actually have 63 percent approval when all is said and done. Speaking of Walker, does anyone know if Barack has ever found a pair of walking shoes?
