How Can Intelligent Citizens Support George W. Bush?

Why do so many voters still favor the Bush regime?
Once upon a time, in the land of Oz, people conceived of leaders who respected their fellow citizens and governed with grace and justice. Wicked tyrants were the foe and greedy power seekers were enemies of the people. Government served the public and the state was limited in scope and function. A fairy tale, just a dream or reality?

At the core of any political discussion is the purpose of the system that rules. Whatever one’s ideology, the common thread that bonds all constituents is that someone else governs in their name. Abstract purists envision a stateless realm within the confines of their own mind. However, in the real world, command and control is the norm. While government is a man-made contrivance, mankind demands order out of a sense of personal isolation and fear of insecurity.

Compared to his predecessor, Dubya seems like a regular guy. To mainstream Republicans he is a hero. It's interesting that the article makes many parallels between Bush admin people and top dogs from the Nazi era.

You can be a rich, selfish, gold-digging white female whose husband is set for life, and who's afraid she might have to work for a living to support the Bushies.

this is the sort of thing we need to be forwarding to the conservatives we know. It's easy for cons to shrug off liberal-oriented writing; but writings that denigrate the Bush* misadministration and come from the right, are harder for them to ignore.

Rich and greedy, or poor and stupid.

That will come as a BIG SURPRISE to a billion Hindus, another billion Muslims (who take revelation a bit further than the Torah), hundreds of millions of Buddhists, and adherents of many, many other non-Abrahamic faiths.

I heard an interview with Janeane Garofalo who said about conservatives in general that they're "kinda mean and sorta dumb" (or vice versa). I think that applies very much to the Bush followers. There's a tremendous spirit of meanness and harshness to his supporters as well as some kind of pathetic ingrained willful ignorance.
