The Mendacity Index: Which POTUS Told the Biggest Lies?
From the Washington Monthly, liar rankings of the most recent three presidents and our current resident. Guess who wins? You guessed it, for overall mendacity, * takes the prize with a 3.6. He earns his trophy for, of course, the 16 words, but also for his outrageous destruction of Americorps. Reagan, at 3.3, and Poppy, at 3.2, are no slouches in the prevarication department, however. The Big Dawg comes in at 3.1, having earned it (let's face it) for the "that woman" statement.

Read the ratings, and do your own: http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2003/0309.mendacity-experts.html

1. Garbage
Look at the panelists--the same punditocracy that harangued us over Clinton's impeachment for months.

Example? Clinton's lie about having sex w/Monica gets a 4.1

Bush's extended--and still unretracted--lie about knowing Iraq had WMDs gets a 3.8.

Even after cooking the books outrageously--and leaving out who knows how many lies AWOL has told--AWOL still comes out worse, but to suggest they're even in the same league is ludicrous.
