Performers instructed not to look directly at * during parade
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 12:34 AM by ailsagirl
What the hell??
==============

You're Invited??

Be ready for metal detectors, personal body searches and the highest security in inauguration history.

WASHINGTON - The nation's 55th presidential inauguration, the first to be held since 9/11, will take place this month under perhaps the heaviest security of any in U.S. history.

Dozens of federal and local law enforcement agencies and military commands are planning what they describe as the heaviest possible security. Virtually everyone who gets within eyesight of the president either during the Jan. 20 inauguration ceremony at the U.S. Capitol or the inaugural parade down Pennsylvania Avenue later in the day will first go through a metal detector or receive a body pat-down.

Thousands of police officers and military personnel are being brought to Washington from around the country for the four-day event. Sharpshooters will be deployed on roofs, while bomb-sniffing dogs will work the streets. Electronic sensors will be used to detect chemical or biological weapons.

Anti-abortion protesters have been warned to leave their crosses at home. Parade performers will have security escorts to the bathroom, and they've been ordered not to look directly at President Bush or make any sudden movements while passing the reviewing stand.

1. Dubya Shares This With Michael Jackson
I once had a friend work on a video shoot for The King of Pop (Little Boys!), and she was given a very specific directive not to look directly at Jackson unless addressed. That Dear Leader would share the same kind of goofy demand for adulation just pushes us further down the hole ...

5. Beyond bizarre, beyond belief
Like he's some revered national treasure!!! Must protect at all costs!!! Gads, corporate America would have a mass coronary if anything happened to the "leader" of this wonderful administration!! They're falling all over each other to donate to the festivities.

Thanks, guys-- doing your best to make America a better country. I hope each and every one of them rots in hell.

As Malloy would say, "what a bunch of sick freaks."

2. Didn't the Egyptian Pharaohs have a rule like that?
Edited on Sat Jan-15-05 12:42 AM by Jack Rabbit
The common peons were not supposed to look upon the King. They might find out he was as wretched as they.

Only in Buhs's case, he is a lot more wretched than we common peons.

8. There's no such thing as
posting it too much. Everyone should know that people are not allowed to look at Bush.

I still want to know why.

11. I desperately want to know
what their excuse/reason/justification is. What could it possibly be?

All I can think of is the emperor of Japan. People weren't allowed to look at him because he was descended from god.

31. Two people have since said
that if you don't look at him, you can't aim at him. (Not their words, but that is the essence of what they said.) So, if you look at Bush, the Secret Service will view you as a potential assassin.

Pretty bizarre, isn't it? When the pResident lives in such fear that people cannot look at him?

Or, maybe it is the descended from god thing. Either way, what kind of a world have they created?

33. How can THEY control where a person looks??
Why not just put a HOOD over Chimp's head so there will be no way anyone can meet those dead, close-together eyes? Better yet-- why not use bullet-proof, one-way glass? (Like they use in police line-ups?)
That way Chimp can see them but they can't see Chimp.

If they're so WORRIED about it...

What a bunch of birdbrained imbeciles!!!

34. On another thread I read that the WH is claiming that the Secret
Service sniper squad will fire at anyone who makes a non-scripted move and that the whole thing could turn into an ugly mess. So, you see, it's for their own protection, not Bush's <being sarcastic, of course>

13. And Don't Smile
Undomesticated chimps interpret a human smile as a threat, as you are baring your teeth at them.

14. why? because he probably knows his life isn't all that valuable.
lots of people on both sides of the aisle would like to see bush dead. (note to AG designate gonzalez -- i am NOT advocating anything of the sort, simply stating a fact as i see it.)

i would assume bush's chances of assassination will be higher this thursday than they'll ever be. not only does most of the world despise him, but conservatives more moderate than he hate him for being so radical. while the real right-wing crazies hate him for not being radical enough.

i'd say fear of a sadat-style parade stand murder will be running high on the 20th.

must be a hell of way to live, knowing most of the world would like to see you dead.

These thugs are doing an excellent job of dismantling every freedom that's ever been won for us.

What I don't get is why, Why, WHY our representatives aren't DOING something about it. Are they a bunch of cowering fools??

Every day things get more insane.

20. I wonder will they shoot you if you look at him?
I would love to be in the Parade. Wouldn't you just love it to look at Chimpy and have the FBI tackle you on the spot. Imagine the media trying to handle this, well the man looked at Chimpy and we thought he might do him harm so we tackled him and roughed him up a bit. What a prima donna this knuckle head is.

22. Great post, sarcasmo-- gave me a huge laugh
I just envisioned Chimp seeing someone look at him and screaming for his henchman, then this fast and furious scuffle going on, with shouts of "GRAB HIM!!!!" and people screaming and all hell breaking loose!! The parade would have to be stopped and people would be shoved out of the way by the hysterical Secret Service and Chimp would be freaking out and Mrs. Chimp would be trying to soothe him and Cheney would be yelling and gesticulating wildly...

God, wouldn't you love it??

32. Local towns have to pick up costs
I just saw on KARE-11 News that the Lakeville, MN band is playing in the parade. Transportation and lodging will cost $175,000 for the group. Guess who picks up the tab? The local community of course. None of that $40+Million is bieng used to help defray the costs.

So the band members go out there, cannot look at the President and the local city gets the tab for their trip.
