Two Huge "Wow's" from today's WaPo.
The online lead to the top story shows just how much Hubris and arrogance * has...

President Says Election Ratified Iraq Policy

Bush tells Post there is no reason to hold administration accountable for prewar mistakes or violent aftermath.

...and then the Lead Editorial...

The Vote on Mr. Gonzales

Sunday, January 16, 2005; Page B06

DESPITE A POOR performance at his confirmation hearing, Alberto R. Gonzales appears almost certain to be confirmed by the Senate as attorney general. Senators of both parties declared themselves dissatisfied with Mr. Gonzales's lack of responsiveness to questions about his judgments as White House counsel on the detention of foreign prisoners. Some expressed dismay at his reluctance to state that it is illegal for American personnel to use torture, or for the president to order it. A number of senators clearly believe, as we do, that Mr. Gonzales bears partial responsibility for decisions that have led to shocking, systematic and ongoing violations of human rights by the United States. Most apparently intend to vote for him anyway. At a time when nominees for the Cabinet can be disqualified because of their failure to pay taxes on a nanny's salary, this reluctance to hold Mr. Gonzales accountable is shameful. He does not deserve to be confirmed as attorney general.

<lots more>

I wonder if they feel badly for donating $ 100,000 to *'s coronation?

1. This one hit the fan
News all over the world is recording the Rampaging Ragweed on his latest soapbox lecture series.

This is a new low. This is a glimpse into the true nature of the Neo-Con dynasty. Hopefully, more people have left the camp over this statement.

As they sit telling themselves their hands are clean.

3. Small consolation to the dead and crippled and their loved ones

but George and the rest of the neocons will likely not be able to leave the United States and travel to any foreign country, save perhaps Great Britain and Canada.

Someone will have warrants on them for war crimes.

5. Another nomination: * claims his re-election was an endorsement of Iraq
invasion. Even the 49.9% of Kerry voters are included in his bizarro world fuzzy math.

7. Unbelievable. So Bush is saying, because Republicans were stupid
enough to believe his lies and vote for him, that he's vindicated?

What an absolute asshole! Who thinks this way?

12. 49.9%, plus the 2 - 3% of Kerry voters whose votes were switched to Bu$h
Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 07:08 PM by Vitruvius
by no-paper-trail Rethugnican voting machines.

Bottom line: Bu$h is claiming that his disenfranchising and cheating his way to re-selection "ratifies" his war-of-aggression in Iraq.

Sociopaths like Bu$h always have a rationalization and are unable to admit -- even to themselves -- that they are wrong. They cannot be cured -- only put in prison for their crimes.

Which is why, as 'Spinzonner' points out in post #3, Bu$h and his gang will not be traveling abroad once out of office; the civilized world will have warrents out for them for their war crimes.

13. But isn't there a point where a sociopath will lose credibility?
Won't there be a point where Bush's reckless policy-making will have a pile-on effect that even the denses Repub will see through?

Confirming Gonzales to be Attorney General is not the message we should be sending to the world when respect for the United States is at an all time low.

Stand up Democrats and say, "No, we will not endorse Gonzales by our acquiesence." Vote No!

8. "We had an accountability moment"
Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 10:04 AM by Martin Eden
excerpt from the WaPo interview:
President Bush said the public's decision to reelect him was a ratification of his approach toward Iraq and that there was no reason to hold any administration officials accountable for mistakes or misjudgments in prewar planning or managing the violent aftermath.

"We had an accountability moment, and that's called the 2004 elections," Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post. "The American people listened to different assessments made about what was taking place in Iraq, and they looked at the two candidates, and chose me."

:wtf: :freak: :nuke: :puke:
Since when is an election the only moment a president should be held accountable??!!!

November 2nd is supposed to erase all the fatal errors and criminal mismanagement that went before and continues afterwards???!!!!

What kind of country do we live in where a president can make a statement like that and not get raked of the coals over public outrage????!!!!!

9. I'm afraid you live in a country which returned Bush to office
when it could have booted him out and right where he belongs - standing trial at the Hague.

14. I was outraged when I read that also
no reason to hold any administration officials accountable for mistakes or misjudgments in prewar planning or managing the violent aftermath.

* has the worst judgment of anyone who has ever held this office.

People are rewarded for not doing their jobs and get promoted because they are loyal to him. What ever happened to picking the best people who will serve the country and not their master.

The media should be all over his statement and start holding him accountable. How many of the media are on his payroll?
