3. People should avoid Jiffy Lube on prinicipal alone....
We used to have a vehicle inspection law in my state. It basically served as a tool for Jiffy Lube and other dishonest businesses to rake in the money by duping old people and people who really don't know anything about cars.
Long story short, I took my brand new Jeep Cherokee in one to get inspected. The car was less than a year old and in perfect condition. The Jiffy Lube guy sticks a wet rag up my muffler with the car running and magically found that I needed a new muffler which they were only too happy to charge me about 200 percent more than their average compeptitor. I essentially told him he was full of shit and left. Never had any problems with the muffler.
But I've yet to go to a Jiffy Lube where I wasn't pressured into paying for some unnecessary procedure. I know enough about cars to know when I'm being duped. I feel sorry for senior citizens who often are scared into paying for this crap. I've avoided them for awhile, because they are dishonest and b/c of their $40 oil changes.
