Why is it anybody's business if someone is a homosexual...
I am a heterosexual, and I am all for gays being allowed to marry. I think it's sick how homosexuals are treated in this country. It's no one's business what they do. And, there is such a thing as seperation of church and state. It is mainly the church influencing the government to fight against allowing gays to be married. BTW, I'm also a Christian, but I understand that my religious beliefs do not belong in the government. So, my suggestion is to those of you offended by gays marrying is to remember that seperation of church and state is more important than quibbling over gay marriage. And, it really is not our business and especially not the business of the government. The government needs to focus on important issues such as keeping the government seperated from religion.

2. thats why there are civil unions and marriage
you don't require the blessing of a church. But call it what it is and accept that the church can have an opinion on the matter.

4. It goes to how one defines morality
For most of us here at DU morality is a relative thing. That is we have our own ideas of right and wrong and try to grow in our understanding of it. For others morality is a concrete thing. Often given as part of a religious doctrine. It is absolute and black and white.

9. I think they have those parades to show the world
that they have nothing to be ashamed of since the world attempts to attach so much shame to their lifestyle. There are many famous homosexuals in history. They are a part of us from the beginning and they will be a part of us until the end. It is our job to protect them from hatred. It is also our job to ensure that church and state are seperate.

14. The nature of oppression
A people that are oppressed suffer from a host of emotional setbacks. It is vital for people to see themself in a positive light. Awareness building activities like parades not only break down social ignorance but also build self confidence for those who are oppressed. Thus breaking the cycle of destruction that binds oppressed peoples.

10. Well, that shows total ignorance on the part of whomever stated this
Homosexuals do not choose to be homosexuals. They are born that way.

13. Look, I agree
That it's nobody's business but the folks involved.
That was my mantra thru the whole "stained dress" episode.
I have seen so much suffering, some of it mine, because people didn't love each other.
I DON'T CARE what sex you and your mate are!
Do you treat each other with love and respect?
Do you show your love and commitment to your community and the world?
There is so much misery in the world, and to find a safe harbor is a wonderful thing.
And who you find that feeling with matters not a bit to me.

Dave

15. Good comment, about the respect thingy
IMO, that is what is at the heart of the question; do you have enough respect for another persons right to privacy?

18. If you want to have sex with them...
Only then, is it acceptable to ask anyone about their sexuality.

19. None!
It's all probably part of something bigger. I would imagine something along the lines of drawing lines between groups of people with common goals, to make it harder for them to unite.

I don't think the morals issue the anti-gay people bring up is true, most of them are devoid of real morals.

Viva la Sexuality!
