1. Better yet
What if secret love letters were found...or better yet...pictures...or better yet: a boy lover who comes forth and tells all? How would that change things? Imagine waking up tomorrow and finding that this was the lead story on Fox. How do you think it would change the entire political landscape?

2. Only one way to find out
Ask him. If he denies it, he's gay. The idiot lies about everything.

7. Lots of stories about Victor Ashe here but he did finally marry.
Guess it was getting a little too questionable, having a man of a "certain age" unmarried and with no steady girlfriends. They say that he shows up in Atlanta in "certain" places now and then (150 miles south on I-75.

Hmmm, sounds like a few others I know of. A mayor in a city I lived in who got married at 43 just before he decided to run for mayor. He'd been a successful city council member for years but the rumors got louder and louder as it becamse apparent he was planning to run for mayor. His marriage ended shortly after his 2 terms as mayor ended.

Then there was this guy in Texas whose dad was in politics and he wanted to run for congressman. But he was single and there were folks wondering about that. Fortunately, just before he threw his hat into the ring, he met a wonderful "gal" and married her almost immediately. He lost that election but later became governor and then, well, you probably wouldn't believe it.

12. Dayton, Ohios' "rock and roll mayor"
..Paul Leonard, back in the early 1980s, was rumored to be be gay.

He ended up as lt governor, but his political career pretty much ended after that. He did run for statewide office, i think, after marrying this very attractive young blonde thing, but he lost the race, and divocrced her.

Not sure what hes' doing now.

Daytons current mayor, a single black female, is rumored to be a lesbian.

Talk about closetland.

6. Discussion at dinner last night
I had dinner with several friends. The subject of defeating Bush came up. Most felt that the American people don't pay attention to his SOTU lies, the economy, the corporate scandals, or his ruinous foreign policy. Only a sex scandal will finish him. But no one could fathom who his partner would be. He just doesn't seem sexual in any way. He's asexual. We could not imagine any type of person who he would be attracted to, or vice versa. He seems neutered. There's no heat there.

8. Dos one need mention how offensive this drivel is to the gay community?
Ha ha ha. Bush is a faggot. What a nice use of anti-gay rhetoric. It makes no intelligent policy point as far as I can tell. Ted Rall should be ashamed.

10. I agree
People should stop and think about how vicious the depiction of homosexuality is in that cartoon before we jump into the same sewer as the freepers to try to get at Bush.

Fag is just as cruel as nigger or kike.

Lord knows we have plenty of legitimate issues to go after.

14. Ted Rall is reflecting from where hes from...
...this guy is from suburban Dayton Ohio, which is easily the most homophobic community Ive ever lived in (including places like Louisville, KY)....so he is sort of reflecting a sort of deeply ingrained unconcious homophobia that is endemic around here.

11. No, it HAS value...
...because it's an example of Republican

1) Dishonesty
2) Cynicism
3) Elitism ("It's okay for HIM, but members of the public should be punished")
4) Intolerance ("Notice how even the President has to live a lie")

Etc.

It's not anti-gay.

18. Sorry
but this is ridiculous. We can't accuse someone of being a "fag" and at the same time atand up for homosexual rights. That makes us just as hypocritical. Besides, I don't think anyone will ever believe he's gay. I don't.

Despite his many flaws and pandering to the religious right, Bush doesn't come off as really hostile to gays. I don't get the impression he really gives a hoot one way or the other about homosexuality. I forget who, but he appointed some gay guy to an important position that drove the freepers nuts. For a right winger he seems somewhat gay neutral. His line about marriages being between a man and a woman is no different then Clinton signing the Defense of Marriage Act. That is where most politicians and the country still are right now.

There are lots of legitimate lines of attack against this guy. This isn't one.

13. Normally I really like Ted's strips.
However I've also wondered why we'd want Bush to be Gay. It's a backhanded slur IMHO.

Hitler? Gay.

Stalin? Gay.

Bush? Gay.

Not very productive demonizing.

17. Thanks for pointing this out
I don't understand why so many heterosexuals want to claim every monster in history (including Shrub) is gay. You will, I'm sure, be given the defense that this plays on right wing tendencies, but it does not. It is indicative of a Freeper mentality.

15. Have you ever seen "Keeping Up Appearances?"
For those of you who are British TV impaired, KUA is about a couple in their late 50's. Richard took early retirement from the British civil service. Hyacinth is preoccupied with appearing to be of a higher social class than she actually occupies, thus the title.

Anyway, in one episode, Richard notices how his sister in law still wants her husband (a loutish slob) after decades of marriage, and asks Hyacinth if she feels the same way about him. "Heavens, no!" Hyacinth replies, which was pretty much what Richard expected her to say. This is the Tory (Republican) attitude in a nutshell.

21. It would be ironic...
.. only because of his standing with the religious right and his comments on gay marriage the other day. I don't wonder if he's gay because he's evil. I wonder if he's gay because he so completely lacks any kind of sex appeal (from this woman's point of view, though a gay man might say the same thing).
