1. I recall reading a study...
... published around 1998 or 1999, where productivity was measured in the top seventeen industrial nations. Worker productivity was highest in the U.S., somewhere around 8% per year. Overall productivity for the U.S., though, was in the low middle at 2% and change.

Why the difference? The study suggested inept top management.

Lot's of people stopped working altogether leaving those with jobs to pick up the slack and work even harder.

It's like a Cheap Labor Conservative's (CLC) dream come true.
