Let's not become "Cheap Labor Liberals"
I love that phrase "cheap labor conservatuives" to sum up what the right wing is up to. Whoever came up with it was a stroke of genius.

But we have to be careful we don't become "cheap labor liberals" by endorsing the same policies like privitization, NAFTA/WTO "neo-liberal free trade," erosion of labor rights and wages, etc.

The only way to fight the cheap labor conservatives is by "prosperity liberals." That means REAL reforms.

2. Armstead man you are so right
:toast:
This is why I support Kucinich. I am a proud supporter of labor any day. Yes you are right we must become liberals not centrists I know and understand the realist DLC motivation but that makes me sick so if we continue to support the death penalty just because its a popular view but I think if we oppose it thats good because if we continue to elect pro death penalty people the innocent can still be excuted.

4. Two things to start with
First, Ban the use of replacement workers when Unions are on strike.

Second, start enforcing Anti-Trust laws.

5. Repukes can't hide from the "cheap labor" tag.
Yeah, our party has done a few things that could be viewed as anti-labor, but on balance, there is no comparison between the two parties.

6. Overpopulation adds to the problem
When French labor rights advocates began calling for tougher immigration laws, right-wing politicians began labeling them as racists.

That happens too often here in the U.S., too. It shuts down the argument, but the problems caused by overpopulation only get worse.

7. Right on, JohnKleeb and camero!
This DLC rightward pull on the democratic party makes me absolutely sick. I understand we are better by comparison to the repukes; but, that's like saying ice cream is better than lint. We need to be ice cream, not sherbet even though we'll never be lint. Damn, food analogies again, guess I missed lunch. Going to munch, bye bunch. Now, that was truly disgusting - guess I'm starting to get goofy from my illness: lackochocolate...

8. thank you
food analogies thats ok I eat like a oink oink and good sense of humor you got. I am sick of being told that my party has got to move center to win so for example we should support the death penalty because its popular well I guess we should tell that to the innocent on death row.

I think I'm going to send that to Buzzflash and see if they'll list it. It's a good meme that needs to be spread.

14. So True....Bread and Butter Politics !
I am always saying that we cannot allow the Democratic Party to only be the party of social liberals. The culture wars are important, but the war against the people by way of taking away their jobs, their right to organize, an economy that works only for the rich. We have to focus our attention and our energy on the - what I call - bread & butter, kitchen table issues that unite us. Too much attention has gone to fighting the culture wars and while that's taken place - we have been robbed. We must return to our roots as a party of economic populism!

15. I know and I agree Jason
We have to be populists not centrists. Populism is what wins and is what most of our best presidents were.
