E-mail Howard Stern and tell him that Sam Brownback is up for re-election
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 09:07 AM by Bombtrack
Tell him his seat is not safe.
mailto:sternshow@howardstern.com
If you don't know: After Howard Stern predicted earlier this week that Infinity will be forced into firing him, Kansas Senator Sam Brownback has written a letter to Viacom head Mel Karmazin demanding an explanation of Infinity's decision to broadcast a sexually explicit Stern interview with Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend in light of the company's new zero-tolerance indecency policy. It was the same broadcast that got Stern suspended from Clear Channel stations.

"I am writing to you to inquire about your company's policies regarding the broadcast of indecent material, and, specifically, how those policies have been implemented with respect to recent broadcasts by Howard Stern," Brownback wrote in the letter, according to Variety. "In addition, please explain how, in light of the Stern broadcast, that policy failed to prevent such patently indecent material from being broadcast over the public airwaves," he wrote.

Brownback is a member of a church-subsidized home that Howard was comparing to naziism this morning. But Joan Ruff is being touted by the DSCC as a very strong contender for his seat. http://www.joanruff.com/

His listeners desperatly want to do something, and sending her money would be at least a symbolic start

2. Stern in Kansas
I would't hold your breath for a dem to be elected to the Senate from this state. In Wichita, the largest city in the state, Stern is not even on the radio.

Howard is not exactly a main stream Kansas issue.

3. At the very least Stern should ask Brownback
why the hell he thinks he has the right to say anything when people in Kansas, whom Senator Brownback supposedly represents, can't even listen to Stern.

4. Brownshirt repulses me
He's one of those flippy-dippy Christian extremists, and I find it sad that he's in Dole's old seat. Bob Dole was many things but he was NOT a radical Christian God's Warrior type.

I saw Brownshirt speaking at the pro-life rally in DC earlier this year (where he was touted as the senator from Kansas) and he finished his thumper speech with a little homily to Jesus. If he did this as a private citizen I wouldn't care, but he was clearly introduced as the junior Senator from KS. I guess that the Kansans who don't share his views will go to hell anyway, according to Senator Brownshirt.
