Chris Matthews calls Florida 2000 "old news" and asks why
On Hardball tonight, Chris Matthews calls Florida 2000 "old news" and asks "why is Kerry ripping off that scab?" (by mentioning 2000 while in Florida).

-------------------
The answer is that it isn't old news. We have an illegitimate-President right now. And many are concerned about election fraud this year.

1. Yeah, man, 9/11 is old news, too!
Why does Georgie keep bringing it up?

Oh, and a great big old "FUCK YOU, CHRIS!" from a Palm Beach County resident.

12. I voted absentee ballot (I was working in Anguilla)
I remember thinking as I was doing it, "damn these things are a bitch to poke through" and I had to tear some of the chads (didn't know the name for them then!) off the back of the card.

25. And I`m another Palm Beach Co. resident. Coup 2000 is still
fresh in my mind like it happened 10 minutes ago. No scab on the wound in my opinion. Still a bloody festering gash from the media whores like Chris Matthews. Who helped the moron usurp the constitution with the added assistance of 5 judges who voted in a 540,000 minority for the idiot they appointed. Why is Chris Matthews so proud of the guy who allowed 9-11 to happen? And then stalls any meaningful inquiry as to what went wrong. How do we protect ourselves? Pray to god that our court appointed leader might care to share some of the warnings they received with the rest of the nation. Instead they just sat on them. That is the GOP idea of leadership. No wonder they have to blame Clinton for everything that happens on Dim Sons watch.

I loved it when he asked Bob Graham about Kerry supposedly saying that Europeans want him to beat Chimpy in November. What planet does this retard Matthews live on? And BTW Chris, I'm still not over 2000 yet.

7. Someone should ask Matthews if he's heard of Greg Palast.
If he hasn't, that speaks volumes, since he uncovered corruption by the Florida Sec. of State (Harris)--but there was almost no media coverage of the revelation in the U.S.

If he has heard of him, he ought to understand!

Maybe Chris Matthews doesn't know that tens of thousands of legal voters were purged by the Jeb Bush administration before the 2000 election.

Too bad none of the guests on tonight's show discussed that.

14. Tweety doesn't know right from left
That's why he's a Media Whore par excellence. He just makes up stuff to be provocative, runs his motor mouth at 1,000 miles an hour, and then doesn't remember from one week to the next who or what he trashed. He is truly not worth bothering about.

9. He's a hypocrit... he still harps in Clinton
There is a definite double standard with him:

If it hurts the Repukes, it is old news.

If it hurts the Dems, it is deemed newsworthy no matter how old the story is.

I would wonder why you as a journalist would NOT be looking into what Greg Palast uncovered.

I know why. You make a comfortable living sitting in your ivory tower and don't dare rock the boat.

You have NO journalistic integrity and couldn't sit in the same room with Amy Goodman.

about the 9/11 ad campaign. He said he thought the ads were a good idea because Bush is playing to his strengths! Then Matthews proceeded to blather on and on about Bushwah's "strong leadership" after 9/11. I was dumbfounded! What planet does he live on?

21. I saw it
He doesn't like (nor do repukes) that Kerry said there's going to be a brigade of lawyers, etc. down there to watch these fuckers like a hawk. To Chris that's picking off old scabs. We are suppose to be dumb and let them do it again. AND, I did see that unbelievable puke they ran. For those who missed it: there was a collection of photos from baby Bush romping with his dad, through pinning on the wings, throught flight suit deck landing, through bull horn at ground zero..all complete with dramatic background music and it went on for like a minute. I thought I was looking, honest to God, at the type of thing they would play at the convention as Bush took the stage. That was way over the top. And finally, cut to Matthews smiling like he was saying "take that fucking Dems; makes you mad doesn't it; and we are going to do it until we get out boy in"....and Howard Fineman looked like he might come in his pants. That was to me an open declaration that Matthews who is in charge of Election 2004 intends to give Bush all the free press he can and get this boy elected.

30. When the beast was unleashed
Truly it really isn't about Florida. We all saw it coming in those days,
when we were listening to Fugazi and watching the cops beat the
face painted kids at the anti nuke rally's in the 80's. We heard the thunder
in the distance. We saw the Oliver Norths and the Jerry Falwells, as the
faces on an ever weaving tapestry. Florida, was really the end result.
The "coup de gris" of a program. Bowled over and looking for which way
up we think of Florida as a rally cry. Unfortuantly Reagan should have
been the cry, Iran Contra, Viet-Nam. It's not a matter of forgetting Florida
its a matter of remembering everything else. We've got some serious catching up to do.

29. You're right..
The "discussion" ended when Bushwad was declared the winner. Even with proof (documented in the first chapter of The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, by Greg Palast), the media, and subsequently most Americans, have put up a 50 ft. brick wall around the subject.

28. Still upset
Tweety is still smarting from his praise of the now infamous Bush ads containing shots of Ground Zero and NYC firefighters before they were aired publicly and met with nearly unanimous condemnation. Even tonight on Keith Olberman's show he said that he disagrees with the 9/11 families who found the ads offensive, and that *hole should continuing "fighting the Indians (ie, Democrats) out in the open and not hide in the fort with the women and children."

This analogy was made in reference to *hole being more a calvary man than a fort (or something like that) man. For a minute, I thought he was going to re-enter that weird zone where he gushes over the way *hole wears his blue jeans.

Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 03:15 AM by Cat Atomic
It's odd when you look at the people on these shows. I don't know a single person who thinks like Chris Matthews, and I have friends from accross the political spectrum.

Chris Matthews, would rank as a far-right loon when put in the context of my own friends and acquaintances. And yet he's called a moderate liberal on television. He's also an idiot who can't follow a thought for more than 9 seconds. That's another way he differs from the majority of people I've met.

I'm rambling. I just think it's strange that such radical, detached people fill the airwaves.

I know some repukes who are still bitter about that one and they still hate the Democrats for it, so compared to Watergate the 2000 theft is not old. I will let 2000 go when they let Watergate go and when they stop dumping on Clinton for the chimp's own shortcomings.
