HAHA! They now have to PAY people to WATCH The Dennis Miller Show!
While slogging thru the depressing task of looking for a job online, I did find one little gem that BRIGHTENED my day on Craig's List!

(love the little tagline at the bottom, calling it a "part-time job." Indeed!)

30. Yay, kera! Welcome to DU!
"Could you tell me please what Dennis Miller show is all about?"

What a great question! Even he doesn't know. Judging from what he's putting out, and the reaction to it.

Dennis Miller is still searching for a viable career in showbiz. He never should have left "Saturday Night Live." That was his high point and he's never matched it since. He's gone exactly nowhere since SNL. Except farther downhill. He already reeked of has-been, before this show, but it's even stinkier around him now.

I don't believe in rewarding my children for bad behavior. Why should I reward someone like Dennis Miller with my viewership, for HIS bad behavior? It's the same as the "don't buy books by crooks" ethic from the post-Watergate era. About all you'll get from him, at all, anymore, is his sardonic forced laughter short of any punchline. If "punchlines" there be. It's more like punch-drunk. It's a shame because I actually enjoyed his schtick on SNL. But that's history. He doesn't tell jokes anymore. Now, he is one.

8. This is not unusual. My neice is an actress in Hollywood, and she
has told me that many taped shows do this to fill out an audience, so that you never see an empty seat. This has been going on for many years.

33. This is not unusual - for shows that nobody wants to see
If you want to watch a taping of a top show, you'd better send away for tickets far in advance, or else know somebody who can get you in.

The "Audience Extras" type, paid audiences, are for the worst shows. It may not be unusual to pay extras to fill the audience at a taping, but it is a sad sign.

36. Yeah It's Bottom-Rung Shows That Pull This Stuff
Even when I worked on game shows, we got an audience -- usually had to bring in a door prize though.

It takes a lot of waiting to get in to say, The Tonight Show or any top 10 sitcom. I often attend Bill Maher tapings, they're a good time -- but haven't been paid yet!

in the audience when Roseanne Barr had her short lived talk show (bout 5 yrs ago), they were filming at CBS studio which is about an hour from where I live. I told the fellow I didn't want to and I didn't have time but he kept on and on literally begging me but I just didn't want to do it and still said NO.

50. I Live By CBS -- I Wish They Paid For BIll Maher Tapings!
We usually go to the Authentic Cafe after -- $30 would pay for dinner EZ there! But the thing is....when they pay you it's usually for a really good reason, some of those shows are really painful to sit through.

The good thing about Miller's show is I think they do it without stopping tape? So at least you'd be in & out relatively quickly, whereas some of the sitcoms, they take 3 hours to tape one half hour episode....and retake all the jokes a hundred times.

Have you noticed his beard? this is a universal characteristic believe me, it is a sort of natural bumper sticker for those who want to expose their faith for all the see . But they keep it of reasonable length so they can still pretend to be progressive . It is the first unmistakable indication the word over. I am just amazed to see the striken simililarity in the use of body parts by homo sapiens to advertise their shallow faith. >This artifice is mostly used by newly born again from all monotheist religion.

25. Actually, 05:21pm Pacific Time!
I'm in LA.

Thanx for pointing this out, Snellius, about Atrios. I'm actually quite tickled IF something I found ended up at Atrios, or if I "scooped" him. Reality is, I'm looking for a decent friggin' job, and stumbled upon the ad on Craigs List.

Actually, since you pointed out Atrios, I just sent this over to Michael Stinson (symbolman), and his co-hort from TakeBackTheMedia - I sorta know them - and maybe they'll post it on their blogs.

I really don't believe in kicking people when they're down - I'm an actor, and I'm certainly down more often than not - but in Dennis Miller's case, I believe in kicking him repeatedly, and giving him an incentive to reflect upon all those free rides he got on Air Force One with Bushie Boy.

Somehow I don't see Atrios poring over Craig's List for political scoops.

Best luck, Captain, finding at job in L.A. I wasn't an actor but I know what it's like to be out of work in the City of Angels with no hope in sight. My route led be to finally get out. As someone once told me when I first moved to Hollywood: "It's like leaving the gas on too long. It's only when you don't smell it any more that you have to watch out."

31. the producers probably figure the reason Dennis Miller isn't
Originally, "The Dennis Miller" show didn't have a studio audience.

The producers probably figured the reason Dennis Miller isn't funny like he was on "Saturday Night Live" is that he didn't have a studio audience .

The real reason is that people like a comedian to be skeptical. Not to kiss-up to Republican politicians and gush over how wonderful they are.
